I experienced a first today. The first time I drove in a Rover, and actually the first time I have taken a car from school after school. All thanks to my friend Libby.
Myself, Libby and our friend Harry had a lovely 10-15 minute drive from our college to the next station 2 miles away. After Harry basically begged Libby to drive us there, even though she lives in the opposite way. She of course cracked under his resolve, Harry being Harry. He can be quite persuasive.
Alas, our little drive entailed some interesting conversation, aged sweets which had apparently been continually freeze-thawing over the weeks in her car, and a lovely little karaoke segment listening to Example on Radio 1.
I do hope these little things will happen again, I am certain Harry would definitely enjoy that.
P.S. Harry, I just mentioned you like 4 times. There is your recognition 😛
Seeing as the Amazon Kindle is one of the bigger things going around right now. And I being a very avid reader of books, have come to the crossroads in which I have to decide whether I should get one or not.
Therefore I have decided to make a list as to why I should get a Kindle, and why I shouldn’t get a Kindle.
To get a Kindle:
Easier to carry around then some books.
Can have the internet – pretty useful
Not too bad to look at
I can carry all my books at once
Not as durable as a book.
Cheaper on the whole
The classics are free
To not get a Kindle:
I like the feel of the pages and the full weight of the book.
A book can prove to be a good weapon
Nobody wants to steal a book
They are special
Can be signed.
Sometimes the e-book is more expensive then the physical book.
Can be shared
I think the idea of a Kindle is better than the actual thing. Like the ability to have your whole library of books in one little machine that doesn’t take up too much room is great. Though a Kindle would reduce the amount of books published, and this may somewhat save trees, it wouldn’t be the same as having the real deal. Having that fresh book smell, and feeling the rough edges and embossed title.
Therefore I doubt I’ll be asking for a Kindle this year, but maybe in a couple of years, when the actual book isn’t as important to me. Or I have the desire to carry around the free classics rather than carrying around several books. Which would make sense when I am in Uni, studying English Literature.
What I would have to decided next is whether I would want the wifi or wifi and 3G version.
I used the word debonair today, well I didn’t say it out loud it was more like; “makes me seem more debonair” in my silent meeting between myself and my brain, which by my standards is a completely different person. It was all after the night before, and the fact that I think of myself as a philosopher, to some degree. This is because of the fact that I spend all of my free time thinking about random stuff.
You see I went to this school party last night, who knows why it was on a Wednesday night, but lets just say a lot of people turned up without a couple inhibitions. I still find it confusing how children barely legal to buy cigarettes manage to get their hands on alcohol, and exactly where their parents are?
As I said to a girl who was not fully their last night; “I have a happy liver” =], since I have never drank a drop, and what annoys me is I have to say why: Well it tastes disgusting; exactly what it is; poison.
I still don’t understand why people need chemicals to enjoy a party. There was a guy who was OBVIOUSLY drunk, and he lit his cigarette the wrong way, I was like seriously?
So anyway this party had a theme “geeks vs gangsters” I was quite worried about this theme since they have nothing to do with each other, but alas I was proven wrong. The geeks (male) were very well dressed with the braces and the glasses (courtesy of disney-pixar 3D films) also high wasted trousers. Than it got really weird, and quite confusing: Because since when did “geek” mean that you like a lady of the night. I’m just saying, because that’s what a lot of girls looked like last night. The trade mark high socks, high heels, and butt clutching skirt. Of course their were smart girls, in normal geek cliche attire. Though I don’t know what some people were thinking.
We had a pretty good DJ (one of the late night ones from Choice FM), so that made it more enjoyable, and they had authentic cocktails (virgin) which were pretty good. Since I didn’t want to go to bed at 1 o’clock that night, and I had school in the morning I left with my friend Helena, at 10:30. Their were only 4 of us going on that train at 10:30 which I thought was really weird. Might I add we were all completely sober =] since we are good children xD.
Overall the night was great =]
I actually love college life which I didn’t expect. I especially love my German lessons with my german support teacher; Mirjam. She is amazing =] and we torture her with questions about her boyfriend. It really just ends up as a session in which we begin by talking about anorexia and end up talking about Nena and her song 99 luftballoons =]
So if I was really random in this blog it’s because I am a newbie, and I just write what I think =]
